Hi All,
I am trying to create a report which shows the job_name, enabled/disabled, last_run result.
I did try to create a dashboard that provides me the first two columns but not able to find the third columns element.
Thanks for you help,
Manjit.
Hi,
I'm looking to generate a report that outlines a set of rules and the number of times that those rules have fired alarms, similar to the information you can find via Rule Diagnostics > Diagnostic Details. I believe I need to use the RuletteStats Methods, found under foglightserver/console/script-help/index.html, however there isn't any documentation.
The issue comes in with getting the amount of times the alarms have fired, as I can find the name of the rules easily enough. Also, is it possible to get just the amount of times the alarms have fired for a certain time frame or is it just the number of times the alarms have fired total?
Thanks for any suggestions in advance,
Dillon
I just installed Foglight 5.6.11 on Windows 2012 R2 and added about 10 Databases to monitor with the one Agent Manager. I am using a domain account to monitor the servers. I have also installed and configured the Performance Analysis product.
Quite frequently since my install several servers have stopped collecting. In the Agent Status page the server has the red X. And in the Databases Dashboard the server has a Red X on the Agent column. Using the Start Monitoring link in the Databases page and the Start Data Collecting in the Agent Status page doesn't do anything. Also validating in the Agent Administration works just fine, but it doesn't restart the monitoring. Deleting the server and re-adding is the only thing so far I've been able to do.
Here's the bottom of the log.

Hi,
I'm an Oracle DB Admin. I want to try Foglight for Oracle. However, I dont know anything about this product. I downloaded Foglight for Oracle which is 370 mb but it is not working. As I see I need to configure management server, agents etc.
I need very basic info about this product.
Is it possible that I can try this on my local test database?
Which setups do I need?
Do I need management server? or what do I need else?
Hi,
I'm looking to create a report that provides information with regards to the uptime/availability of our Foglight servers. As an example, if our development server goes down from 12-1 and then again from 3-3:30, the production server would show on the report that it was down for a little more than 5% of the day.
My first attempt at this was through creating a new group in the Service Builder page, where in I've added the hosts of the other Foglight servers (where I've placed OS agents so they can monitor one another). Through this I was hoping to use the Availability graph that can be found by hovering over the 'Service Level Compliance' image for the corresponding group. That being said, I'm having trouble figuring out what components should be inside, and how to create the corresponding report.
Thanks for any suggestions in advance,
Dillon
My DBAs don't use the Foglight console as a heads-up display. There are often times when an account gets locked due to various reasons after a few failed attempts (i.e. - timeouts) that result in our monitoring being compromised. Ideally, the DBA would respond to the event and take appropriate action but often times they misunderstand what the alert is telling them so they simply check that the database is up and close the ticket. Meanwhile, the account is locked and no monitoring is being done until someone unlocks it. This has burned us many times.
I am well verse at Groovy and the inner workings of the Foglight topology models. I'd love to find some object, property, or metric which can tell me when an agent's accounts have been locked.
We are still running 5.5.8, so we don't have the added complexity of the Credentials and Lockboxes yet...
I'm trying to configure e-mail notifications for the Foglight SQL alarm rules, but when I follow the documentation to configure them, it is not allowing me to configure notification for all alerts or alert category. The e-mail notification tab that's supposed to be there is missing. The only way I can see the email notification tab is to select individual alert rules, which I would rather want to avoid having to go thru several dozens of alarms and configure each one. The SQL cartridge running is 5.6.7.508.
When I go to a particular instance --> Agent settings --> Administration --> Alarms...
...and try to search on alarms I don't see any of our custom rules.
Where would I find the custom rules? I'd like to edit thresholds for those custom rules differently for different instances.
We are using Foglight 5.6.11.
Thank you.
Okay, what am I doing wrong here - I have set the Max Server Memory setting to 16GB for this instance. Memory shows as 100% in use, but the numbers below don't add up. This is running a 100GB database. Even if I run SELECT * queries from huge tables, I can't get the buffer cache counter to go up. What is going on? Why does it say 100% in use?
Hi all,
How can I restrict the "DBO - Usability Connection Availability" rule to a particular set of databases?
I'm not sure how to rewrite the rule condition for that.
Thanks for your time.
Hi All,
I have two Windows Server 2003 with SQL Server 2005 that have mirroring configured, when I do the auto discover on Foglight 5.6.4.2 and monitor these databases I cannot see any mirroring panel, there is any additional steps to monitor the mirroring?
I have no witness server.
Thanks.

Bruno
Please give me instructions to create a custom report to show the results from this query: SELECT * FROM sys.dm_os_performance_counters WHERE counter_name = 'transactions/sec' is there already an existing report element for this?
Hi all,
It has been requested of me to combine multiple deviation rules in to on rule. The first one I have been asked to do is combine the rule DBSS - CPU Wait Baseline Deviation and the rule DBSS - I/O Wait Baseline Deviation. This rule should only trigger an alarm if both CPU Wait Baseline and I/O Wait Baseline are deviated. The problem is that I have no idea combine this:
result = Dbwc_Common_SQL_Server_ShouldRaiseBaselineAlarm_new(scope,"DBSS_wait_cpu_Baseline",2,false,"DBSS - CPU Wait Baseline Deviation");
With this:
result = Dbwc_Common_SQL_Server_ShouldRaiseBaselineAlarm_new(scope,"DBSS_wait_io_Baseline",3,false,"DBSS - I/O Wait Baseline Deviation");
I would appreciate any help or suggestions on this.
Thanks.
Hi,
We have Spotlight Bundle; spotlight on Messaging ver. 7.5 & Spotlight on Windows ver. 3.82.
I am new to Spotlight. I have been ask by Management if Spotlight uses SNMP if yes what version of SNMP? I don't see Windows SNMP service running so I don't think it is using SNMP but I need to be certain.
If Spotlight is not using SNMP, what protocol is using for monitoring and if I could have a link to read on how Monitoring and trap works in Spotlight?
Thanks,
Naser
Hi everyone, I was wondering if Foglight had any support, current or future plans, for RDS on AWS?
Specifically I am concerned with Oracle at this time, but any support for other database platforms available on RDS would be good to know as well.
Thanks,
Brett
Hi
I have configured the UDC as per the last mail from Ken Eio. I have attached the screenshot of the UDC.
1) I have created UDC as per UDC_Creation screenshot.
2) When the table went under REORG PENDING status this query ran from the foglight and get the output as UDC_Query_output screenshot in which i will get reorg_pending field as "Y" means Yes the mentioned table in schema_table field is in reorg pending state.
3) Now I have set the Rules from the Add Rule tab in Rules & Notification.
4) Refer Rules_Definition screenshot where I ahve created the rule name.
5) Than I have created variable refer Rules_variables screenshot.
6) I have given the condition as Critical one in Condition, alarms tab refer Conditions Screenshot.
Please let me know whether my condition will throw the critical alram with message and do i will get the mail also for the same? My concern is whenever the table get the output as "Y" than i should get the alarm with DBname Schema name and table name i.e. on which schema.table name need reorg.
